Hana Hou
Hana is truly heavenly, not just for the beautiful scenery and lush foliage, but especially for the people. Hana has a large population of Native Hawaiians and their genuine aloha permeates the landscape. John felt right at home performing at the Ohana Makamae King Kamehameha Day celebration at Hana Bay on Maui.

Singing for the Aina
All you have to do is start a rumor that Jack Johnson might show up and people start throwing down $5000 for a table at the North Shore Community Land Trust's benefit show on Oahu. He did show up...along with some other great names to raise money for a great cause.

Getting Some Slack on Maui
OK, let's face it. People in Hawaii are pretty slack compared to those elsewhere in the world, but nowhere like at the Maui Slack Key Festival. Some of the greatest slack key guitar players on the planet gathered here for an afternoon of good music and very good times.

In Hawaiian, Kokua means to help or cooperate, and at this particular event, that was an understatement. So many big names turned out to raise money for Japan that people in Hawaii were calling it the concert of the year.
